Most free e-signature tools work by uploading your document to their servers, signing it there, and sending it back. For a newsletter that is fine. For an employment contract, a lease, an NDA or anything with your bank details on it, you have just handed a copy to a third party and accepted whatever their retention policy says.
docu4all takes a different approach. The signing happens in JavaScript on your own machine, so the file is opened, modified and saved without a single byte being transmitted. There is no server that could be breached, no retention window to read and no account holding copies of what you signed.

How to do it, step by step

Is a drawn signature legally valid?
In most jurisdictions, including under the US ESIGN Act and the EU's eIDAS regulation, an electronic signature is legally binding when it shows clear intent to sign and is attached to the document. A drawn signature placed on a PDF satisfies that for everyday agreements such as leases, offer letters, invoices and consent forms.
Some transactions demand more: notarised documents, certain property transfers, wills and some court filings may require a qualified digital certificate or a wet signature. docu4all produces a visible signature image, not a cryptographic certificate, so check the requirements before using it for anything in that category.
